This is a very fine World War II U. 8th Army Air Force Ike Jacket that is in excellent condition. It is constructed of chocolate brown elastique material and complete with all the dark green plastic buttons. Pinned to the upper lapels are the U.
Officers devices and to the lower lapels are the wing and prop insignia. Sewn to each epaulet is a beautiful hand embroidered, silver bullion 1st Lieutenants rank bar. Sewn to the upper left shoulder is British made 8th Air Force patch on blue felt material. At the base of this sleeve are sewn 2 gold bullion overseas bars representing at least 1 year of overseas service. Sewn to the right shoulder is an Army Air Force General Headquarters patch that is embroidered on a blue felt background and may be theater made.
The interior of the jacket is lined with OD green rayon type material. Sewn into the collar is a tailors label with two regal lions holding a stylized letter M surmounted with crown. Sewn to the exterior of the internal left breast pocket is another tailors label that reads, THE HOUSE OF MALCOM KENNETH CUSTOM MILITARY TAILORS FOR MORE THAN TWO GENERATIONS. Another label on the inside of this pocket reads, METROPOLITAN DAYTON with the lot number, 305B and size, 37 short.
The name and date are blank. Accompanying the jacket is a matching pair of trousers made of chocolate brown material and with a brown cloth label that reads, REGULATION ARMY OFFICERS TROUSERS. There is a nice spec tag sewn onto the outside right pocket lining with date, June 24, 1942. There is no moth damage to either the jacket or trousers and both remain in excellent and undamaged condition. The measurements are as follows. Shoulder to Shoulder across the back 19 inches. Armpit to armpit across the front 20 inches. Length from top of collar to bottom hem at the back 23 inches.
