Offered here is a WWII US Army Air Forces & Navy machete survival knife. There were several manufacturers that made machetes during WWII, like Collins (Legitimus), Hotze, Robeson-Suredge, Queen City, Disston, Avery and True Temper.

This one was made by Disston. They were made with 18 blades and had a rough black finish. They were primarily used as survival weapons and it was packed in the global survival kit "A-26". It was also used in Airborne kits too. Other knives in the kit were Mark I trench knife and Mk2 Paratrooper knife.

Overall, this machete knife is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition, considering its age. The five (5x) rivets securely fasten the grip panels to the tang. They have scrapes and light oxidation. The grips have light compressions, scrapes and draglines. The finish is still intact. The spine and sides have light oxidation, scrapes and scattered discoloration. The blade edge has a few small nicks and dings, but appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point.

Parts of the original finish still remain along with the oxidation. The left side of the blade is marked "DISSTON / US / 1943". This machete knife will be a great addition to your WWII collection, or a machete knife collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
