C-2 Hemco US Air Force Army Bomber Aircraft Galley Cooking Unit Kit WWII. Belt straps dated 1960 so was in use for quite some time. It is a "Kit, Galley (Aircraft) Type C-2" by HELMCO. It is completely portable so it can't be associated with any particular aircraft but was definitely made with heavy bombers in mind.

Not sure about voltage since the 110 volt marking is painted over and the 24 volt has tape that looks like was used ti cover il. I would assume that would include all the heavy bombers.

So looking at the first picture, to the left is an open storage area. The one section contains two heated thermos-like containers. The section is removable (shown lifted out and put back) To the left of that, is a hotplate (with a grease catcher) and the compartment where the hot cups can be plugged in. There is just one plug, so the cups have to be heated seperately. Each has it's own switch.

There are no temperature controls, so no simmering. It comes with a canvas cover that clips onto various points of the body. The cover has dinne staining and small tears at couple of the anchor points. I really like this thing, unfortunately we don't really have a good context in which to display it.

Would think perfect item for some restoring B-17 or other heavy bomber, aviation themed restuarant or collector of this kind of stuff but is very cool on its own. I'm a pilot and had thought to display but ready to part with it. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Militaria\WW II (1939-45)\Original Period Items\United States\Field Gear, Equipment".
