Here we have a very nice WWII U. Army Air Corps Captains 8th Air Force/CBI Officers uniform jacket that is complete with all original insignia and in excellent condition. It is constructed of fine quality, OD chocolate gabardine material and lined in green satin material. The collar is with the officers U. Clutch back insignia and the lapels have clutch back wing and prop insignia attached to them. Pinned to each shoulder epaulet is a STERLING silver marked Captains rank insignia. Sewn to the left shoulder is an exquisite British made 8th Airforce shoulder patch that is executed in heavy, gold metallic bullion on a black wool background. Sewn to the right shoulder is a beautiful, heavily embroidered, theater made China, Burma and India patch. Sewn above the left breast pocket is an extremely fine pilots wing in metallic silver bullion thread on a chocolate brown piece of material. Below this wing can be seen an area where a ribbon bar was pinned at one time but this is now missing. On the lower left sleeve are four gold bullion overseas bars representing at least two years of overseas service.
The brass buttons are the 2-piece deluxe type with all being present. The buttons down the front of the jacket have been moved from their original position to make the jacket a bit tighter around the torso due, no doubt, to the loss of weight from overseas service. There are two interior pockets. The one on the right side is with a tailors label that reads, McFARLINS, ROCKCHESTER Tailored by HICKEY FREEMAN. The interior of this pocket has a Hickey Freeman Customized Cloths label that has all blank fields except for the size which is given as, 39. This is a fine-looking jacket to a Army Air Corps pilot who fought in both theaters of operations during the Second World War.
It is completely without damage, with beautiful insignia, and one that remains in excellent condition.
