This is a very fine World War II U. 8th Army Air Force Bombardiers Ike Jacket that is in excellent condition.
It is constructed of chocolate brown elastique material and complete with all the dark green plastic buttons. Pinned to the upper lapels are the U. Officers devices and to the lower lapels are the wing and prop insignia. Sewn to each epaulet is a beautiful hand embroidered, gold bullion Second Lieutenants rank bar.
Sewn to the upper left shoulder is British made 8th Air Force patch on blue felt material. At the base of this sleeve are sewn 5 gold cotton overseas bars representing at least 2½ years of overseas service. Pinned above the left breast pocket is an extremely fine, pin back Juarez pattern Bombardiers wing. Below this is a single, 3-place pin back ribbon bar with ribbons for the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 4 bronze oakleaf clusters, and the European Theater Medal with 2 bronze campaign stars. Pinned above the right breast pocket is a gold metal frame Presidential Unit Citation.
The interior of the jacket is lined with gold rayon type material. There are no labels or markings to be found anywhere on the jacket. It remains an extremely attractive example in undamaged and excellent condition.
The measurements are as follows. Shoulder to Shoulder across the back 16 inches. Armpit to armpit across the front 19 inches.
