US ARMY AIR FORCES 98th BOMB GROUP. "THE DESERT RATS" The 98th Bomb Group and the August 1943 Ploesti Raid. The 98th flew 417 missions against axis targets between 1942 and 1945.

They and four other bomb groups were to fly to Ploesti, Rumania. Bomb the oil refineries and return to Africa. They weren't expecting this to be the most difficult and bloody mission they would face. This book recounts the raid with commentary, photos, copies of confidential documents. Includes a roster of aircraft and crew.
