East German DDR Air Force / Army OFFICER DAGGER Set w Hangers & Box East Germany

  

German Democratic Republic (DDR) Officers Dagger, complete set with original issue Storage Box and dagger hangers. This is GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL item from the communist period not a souvenir or modern replica. The dagger is in original scabbard, nicely blued and nickel-plated.

The grip is in high quality plastic resembling ivory. The blade has individually stamped serial number 05532 this number would be recorded and assigned to the officer who was to receive the dagger.

This type of presentation dagger was issued to every officer of the East German armed forces when they were first commissioned. The daggers were the same for different branches of service (except Navy who used gold finish), but the hangers were different depending on the branch. This particular set includes silver brocade hangers which are correct for the East German Army officers, but if hangers are replaced it would work for Air Force or Stasi just as well. The dagger comes with a set of hangers, complete with its original cardboard issue / storage box that has separate compartments for the hangers. The box has minor storage wear and a separation at one of the corners (visible in our photo but not conspicuous in real life and easy to repair if desired), otherwise intact, perfectly sound and clean. The dagger and hangers are in near mint condition, apparently unissued or at least practically never taken out of the box, and show storage age only. Beautiful DDR dagger like this is not easy to find anymore! This historic piece can be an excellent addition to any XX C.
